Testimonials for The Veterans Association

Stories from men and women who carried the weight long after service. These accounts highlight the reality behind the uniform — trauma, isolation, and a system that often looks away.

Please take the time to read through some of testimonials to see what our supported veterans are saying about our charity. If you or a family member have used our services, we would highly appreciate if you could leave us a Google review.

These testimonies exist so the silence around veteran hardship ends. Every story here represents veterans who were promised support but left to cope without it.

Matt Gibbs
WO2 RLC, 24 Years Service

I served for 24 Years in the Army, I left as a WO2 in the RLC and have served within Airborne Forces, I finished my career in the Forces 7 years ago and I'd never asked for help before....until now.

I was going through an extremely difficult time at work and this in turn was affecting things at home, I happened to stumble across the Veterans Association, it took a lot for me to walk in as I wouldn't normally consider doing this.

I'm so glad I did as I was immediately welcomed. They listened, they empathised and they understood where I was coming from.

They have done nothing but help me, as they would for any Veteran and I appreciate their support immensely.

I cannot recommend this place enough and I have found John, Angie and Helen to be extremely warm, welcoming and understanding to not only me but also my family.

My wife recently had a major operation after cancer was discovered. This operation has left her with great difficulty in getting in and out of the bath for a shower...

I decided to put in a walk in shower. Being a Veteran myself I approached the Veterans Association for a grant after talking to friends who are also Veterans.

I filled in the required paperwork as requested and returned. The paperwork stated that I would have a decision within 28 days. I did in fact receive a decision in 48 hours which was approved.

The plumber starts work next Monday the 27th. All I can say on behalf of my wife Jackie and me is many, many thanks.

I will follow up with photos later.

Excellent people, very helpful. My regards to Olivia, Helen and the 2 Johns over the past 2 years — without their help I literally would have starved!

In addition, they've covered costs to help me get back into work. If not for their help my situation would have been critical and basically I'd have just given up on life I think.

These folks have been as good or better than the British Legion in my opinion.

Once back in work and solvent I will be donating back to them — respect where it's due.

As a veteran. Riley medical court and then transferring to the Queen Alexander’s. It is good to spend time in a place which is focused on the King and country.

All welcome — so buying a hot drink actually helps Veterans.

My husband took me to this venue. Lovely little place — it's worth checking out.

A variety of drinks and they will be doing some snacks soon.

When I am in the position to visit your Birchington HUB in the better weather, I most certainly will do that.
